The American college of physician made a research paper on how the prescription drug advertising works. The direct to consumer type of advertising, it can be tv ads, commercials, magazine, newspaper. From all those commercial there are different type of promotion that are made from those, "product claim", "help-seeking" and "reminder" as mentioned in the article, some of those commercials don't even explain what the product are for, or just tell you to go see your doctor that he will advise you on this. The article explain the different aspect that the DTC or "direct-to-consumer" type of advertising. The FDA, the us food and drug administration is also mentioned in the article with the regulation and enforcement they have made on the advertising.
