My view

This topic seems unusual and probably surprising, but the fact is that the drug abuse that is illicit substance or prescription is a real problem in our society and the mediation of those drugs are done thru the internet and all different kind of media. The media should restrain their use of the image of drugs in the society. Regarding the teenager problem it's something more problematic and probably harder to control, due to propagation and the promotion of different kind of drugs by artist that they see as heroes sometimes, i would take my self as an example, growing up and listening to all different type of music, i've heard the name of several different drugs that i have never heard before "Lean" for example a caught syrup mixed with sprite, at this time it was getting popular and i clearly recall that some people from my class in high school where obsessed with trying it cause their favorite artist used it himself and singed it.  The younger generation in my poi...

The American college of physician made a research paper on how the prescription drug advertising works. The direct to consumer type of advertising, it can be tv ads, commercials, magazine, newspaper. From all those commercial there are different type of promotion that are made from those, "product claim", "help-seeking" and "reminder" as mentioned in the article, some of those commercials don't even explain what the product are for, or just tell you to go see your doctor that he will advise you on this. The article explain the different aspect that the DTC or "direct-to-consumer" type of advertising. The FDA, the us food and drug administration is also mentioned in the article with the regulation and enforcement they have made on the advertising. s https://www.acponline.org/acp_policy/policies/direct_consumer_prescription_advertising_2006.pdf

Some commercials surf on that new trend of drug use, by showing them, cocaine, marijuana and many more are used. It can be some commercials about clothe, food actually literally everything possible, the main point being to chock the audience and make them remember the commercial. But often those commercial are banned or extremely criticize. The perfect example would be the commercial done by  Sisley a french clothing companies known to be chocking with their advertising. Showing those two young girls sniffing a dress is meant to show that fashion is something that should be addictive for women, "Sisley fashion junkie" as only inscription. More than that it normalise those kind of behaviours, and shows to young girls but not only, any person walking thru those kind of ads, that those kind of behaviour are "normal". Think about explaining this add to a young children, what would u say ?

The singer lil peep, admired and respected by his fans died from a Xanax overdose, a drug used normally for anxiety disorder, alcohol withdrawal and many more. Among the new generation the use of this drug is recreational, but not without risks it's a highly addictive drug, without mentioning the risk of overdose and different health issues if mixed with alcohol or other substances. As drug Xanax was not known as it is today, the promotion of this drugs have been done thru the social media by different  artist and mentioned in different songs, for example lil xan that even use one of the street name of the Xanax as his stage name "xan". One of the  most "memorable" lyrics of lil peep according to his fans "switchblade cocaine", stays in the mind, that's the perfect example of the kind of propagation that those type of artist do. The artist don't take in consideration the facts that young and suggestible people listen to their song and from t...

This problem was not present in the previous centuries, we are going to explore how the growth of internet and the social media, and commercials are influencing the young minds, and how it affect the oldest to take illicit substances. Different aspect of the social media and commercials could be the cause, the overused and "promotion" of drugs in the music industry, the image of drugs in some commercials, and many more.
